Yes, we have a wired Chint bi-directional smart meter with its own CT inside the EPS gateway (we have whole house backup)
I have re-terminated the cabling between it and the inverter as the idiot (sorry, fully qualified electrician who knows far more than me
) use two paralleled pairs (the whi & whi/blu and ora & whi/ora) to connect between the gateway and the inverter.....yes I am aware that electrically it will work but doing that totally defeats the point of using twisted pair! ....just in case anyone is unsure, twisted pair is used to eliminate noise and interference as any noise is induced into both wires but out of phase so it cancels out, two parallel wires will pick up noise like a radio aerial

Hi
I am surprised it lets you keep doing this. Ours returns "failure" after a few successful resets.
Our inverter is a Fox ESS 6KW Hybrid Inverter H1-6.0-E-G2-WL in G99_UK mode.
Did you manage to read the error log to see what error is triggering your g100 s3?
I have asked the installers to ground the foil screen of the cable when they get round to installing it - it is in a trench quite close to the garage ring main cable, so would be vulnerable to picking up mains voltage in common-mode (due to capacitive coupling). I think RS485 should be good for up to 7V of common-mode , but don't want to test it.
The twisted pairs wont help with common-mode noise (they prevent differential mode noise caused by magnetic fields, as each twist is the opposite polarity to the prior).

The error log was blank ...but that MAY have been after I reset it, its happened so many damned times I cant be sure!
At least now I can reset the G100 problem without clearing the error log.....

it does seem that the grid voltage is going above 253V for short periods... I found the Vac 10 min average setting but it is disabled and I cant seem to change it....also found these settings...are they correct ?

Hi
I think the 262.2V setting is correct, and can't be increased (I tried). Our grid is always high, in the 245 - 250 region, but doesn't seem to be a problem
Interestingly, Fox have (with my permission) remotely disabled the G100 function, and so our system is no longer locking up. I didn't realise this was possible. I am away from home, so cant see what the display says, but I can tell from the App that it is now working OK.
We are still planning to replace the wireless bridge with a direct wired meter connection, since I have already got the cable installed. Just waiting for the installers to agree a date.
I'm not sure what the inverter does now, if it "loses" the meter. I would hope/ expect that it stops discharging the battery, but continues to feed panel power to the grid/ house (as our old non-battery, non-CT, system did).

hmmm... the installer is coming out tomorrow....not really sure why but probably to justify their huge profit
will ask about that
will ask about that

Installer came out today and checked the data cabling between the Chint meter in the gateway and the inverter plug When he unplugged the data cable the G100 state 3 error immediately appeared suggesting, as Fox tech already had that it could be a bad connection.........except that with my 40+ years in datacomms cabling that was the first thing I checked and proved it to be good end to end
He then spoke to Fox technical.....apparently they have seen this recently on a handful of inverters and said there is "something that is looking for a parameter that doesnt exist", adding that we arent using G100 so that shouldnt be enabled anyway (!!)..... so they have turned off all messages relating to G100
Maybe they had a batch that were programmed wrongly, who knows.....maybe we never will but IF thats cured the problem I will be happy
Advice is to monitor it for a while to see.....which I will
Added to this..... we have a G99 / 5kWh export limit and I have noted on occasion that we were exporting 5.2. 5.8 and up to 6.4kWh due, it seems to the inverter being set to maximum export by the installer (or more likely not set at all).... I have reduced this to 5kWh and am wondering if that was the cause of the G100 error as G100 relates directly to export limits!
I have since learned that G100 in fact applies standards to the export limits......and after Fox disabled messages about G100 I noted that we are now on unlimited export (I have again seen up to 6.4kWh) rather than the permitted 5kWh of our G99 DNO permit.....does it matter....does anyone care....will they find out and if so what happens ?
