FOXX BMSV1 replacement
Hello All
Good morning. I have a solar panel system comprising of 16 X panels, 1 X Foxx ess Fox ESS HI-5,0-e inverter,4 HV2600 Ver.D batteries and a Fox ESS BMS V 1. I wish to maximise the battery storage I have been informed that aforementioned batteries are not manufactured any more, I have also been told that if I replace my BMS for a BMS V2 these would be compatible with my current batteries, and I could expand the storage by using the newer FoxX ESS HV2600. If this is possible,

Re: FOXX BMSV1 replacement
Yes that is correct, you would need to change the BMS from a V1 (a half depth casing) to a V2 (full depth casing) but only when you add the V2 batteries to your stack.

Just a few notes,

The V2 BMS will slightly reduce the existing capacity of your V1 stack (potentially by as much as 10%) so you would need to consider that when adding batteries - a single V2 battery wouldn’t be the worth the effort.

If you have an old generation 1 H1 inverter (pre mid 2023), you can only have a maximum of 7 batteries, whereas if you have the later gen 2 H1 you can have 8 batteries.

You will need to update the firmware on your V1 batteries to run a version that is compatible with the V2 BMS before they will operate correctly together (if you have an installer or agent account this is simple enough, otherwise you would need to request the firmware from your installer or as Fox to download it to your system).
