Axle VPP Beta Testing
Hey all!

I work at Axle Energy - we're a software company specializing in integrating distributed energy devices into energy markets. We've worked with lots of the UK's leading brands such as GivEnergy, Pod Point, Myenergi, and now of course Fox!

We've recently launched a beta product we'd love your feedback on - it'll optimise your battery against your tariff (minimising your bill) whilst exporting occasionally to the grid when it will earn you £. We're so confident in our trading algos that we're committing to a £10/min monthly earning through to March 2026

Re: Axle VPP Beta Testing
Hi. I’ve tested your VPP allowing it to fully control my FoxESS battery and it suffers from the same issue as I had with CaptureAI when I tried their platform.

The issue is with recharging my battery - if the battery is at 100% charge, and the sun is shining, there is no solar generation from the system. When I spoke to Fox, it’s related to the modes selected in mode scheduler. If I select the mode ForceCharge(Bat), it works correctly - ie charges the battery to 100% then continues to allow solar generation so I can export to the grid or divert to my Eddi.

The other issue is had was with Axle force discharging my battery every day at 3:30am only to recharge it at 4:00am. I’m on Octopus Cosy so it’s pointless force discharging at 15p/kWh only to recharge at 14.02p/kWh - it’s a loss overall factoring in the wear on the battery.

Hopefully you can fix these two issues, and I can switch back to full managed mode through Axle (I’ve switched to event only mode for now).
