Re: Installer bankrupt
my installer is still in business but the tech guy refuses to answer or return my calls, I think because he does not know the answers to my queries (eg how do I integrate my system to Agile rates on octopus). There are also a couple of issues with the install. If they refuse to engage with me how ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
Secure boot can be turned off on this laptop - there's a switch for that, in the BIOS that can be accessed, so I assume it will work. I see it is possible to install HAOS direct onto a 64-bit X86 machine: https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/generic-x86-64/ . So I could swap the 128GB SSD into ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
There's a hiccup in the plan to use the HP laptop, in that the advanced bios access is locked by HP, and they want more than it's worth to unlock and make it boot on AC power. But, maybe, boot on LAN will do instead, as we don't see a lot of power cuts. I'll test that today. There are suggestions on ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
Oh, I assumed I could run HA directly over a native Linux OS - I don't know Linux well at all, but I was told by a man who says he knows what he's talking about that there'll be no issues installing it on an HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab040sa from 2016. So I was going to install Linux on the new SSD I ...

Re: Odd discharge power behaviour
Well, I changed Time Period 2 to 00:30 to 07:30 with Enable charge from grid on. Now there's no time for the battery SoC to droop before it starts to charge, and it does not look like there's any charge going into or out of the battery after it reaches 100 %. That helps what I'm trying to see ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
That kit you linked on ebay sadly won't do it, it's basically an emulator that runs the raspberry pi dashboard - not a raspberry itself I was wondering about installing Linux on that directly and running HA under that. So, with the x86 machine, I have to run Windows and a VM to run HA? Graham

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
With a bit of minor adaption you can create your own dashboard which shows only the key sensors, statistics and graphs you are interested in You can also define your own sensors if there's calculations you want done that HA doesn't do by default. You can also define "utility meters" to give you ...

Odd discharge power behaviour
Anybody able to explain this: I have battery charging Time Period 1 set to 00:30 to 07:30 with Enable charge from grid off, Time Period 2 set to 04:30 to 07:30 with Enable charge from grid on, and I start from an SoC of 65%, so the battery charges to 100% by 05:55. From 00:30 to 04:30 I have a ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
So, something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256038764507?hash=item3b9d197fdb with an £8ish 120Gb SSD? I assume I can download HA to a USB stick and transfer that way. Cloning the SSD that's in it might be a problem if it's an M.2. As to exporting the data to the Windows 10 laptop, I really ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
Sorry, I meant virtual machine, i.e. logical partition, not virtual partition. But if I can install a Linux box near the inverter running HA, and see the data that records from a separate Windows 10 machine, that would do. So what app would be running under Windows 10 to log the data and apply ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
If I was to install and connect a Linux machine running home assistant to the inverter, would I be able to monitor that from and extract data to a Windows machine over the wifi, e.g. via a browser?

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
I've thought about the home assistant option, but it looks more involved to implement than I want. I don't mind buying a Pi and SSD, and probably aren't worried by the physical installation and cabling etc. - even running an Ethernet cable into the loft wouldn't phase me. But I don't want to get ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
Thanks, that looks a fairly comprehensive cover of the general rules. I'll need to study it for a while, though. I take it that the temperature I should be concerned about is the battery temperature as monitored on the app. However, it worries me that, as someone else has noted, I’m seeing higher a ...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries
What I'm reading on the internet (remembering the quote from Abraham Lincoln I read on the internet, viz that "you shouldn't believe anything you read on the internet") is that there's some softness in the lower limit, i.e. from some value a bit above 10% min charge level, there's some reduction of ...

About charging and discharging batteries
Is there any significant difference in charging these types of battery to 70% then discharging to 20% and charging to 100% then discharging to 50%? For example, in terms of the life of the battery.

Re: Batteries not discharging then they do after a few days
What do you have set for the charging time periods? Mine are set like this: Time Periods.jpg What came as a surprise to me recently is that the top entry values mean there will be no discharge from the battery from 00:30 to 07:30. It's a useful feature to avoid using charge from the battery during a ...

Re: New installation, not reading any load or grid usage
How do you prioritize export over charging? Not that I want that, as it cost me a penny more to import than I get for export. But I do see some tariffs where the peak payment for export is greater than minimum cost for import, and it makes some sense to prioritize, even force export in that high ...

Re: How can I work out a daily production?
I think I've found the problem with the Load Power value on the Sites Details page: it has a 10 minute sample interval, where the Load Power on the Inverter Details page (which can't be displayed in Stats form to give a day's total) has a 5 min interval. In which case, if the calculation is the same ...

Re: How can I work out a daily production?
Actually, I use the Excel sheet for daily analysis. I'm trying to see if there's a value of max state of charge that will minimize both the export of power I drew in overnight and the consumption of power at the higher tariff for economy 7. And to get what I need for that I need the daily Output ...

Re: Connect to Octopus Agile
It needs to be your Octopus account number to work. ;-) Got all the boxes filled in, and the test button gets tariff details from Octopus. But when I try to update, I get "40256-Parameter could not be parsed correctly". Yet none of the boxes is marked as a problem in anyway. Graham

Re: Connect to Octopus Agile
Go to your account on a web page, not app, click on your account number and the next screen allows you to see your API Thanks, found that, but the test button says invalid number, Thought that would be the MPAN, but the "?" button says "The registered number of the business." Graham

Re: Lost option for Force Charge
I didn't think this issue of not discharging mattered to me at the time, but thinking about it, maybe it does. So, I see that if I set either of the "Enable charge from grid" toggles for some set period, the battery will charge from the grid and not discharge in that period. But is it possible to ...
