Re: Expected PV power in winter sun?
Definitely sounds fishy to me. Even in the middle of winter, my 6.24 kWp array with 5 kWp Inverter produced about 350 kWh over January (11 kWh per day), and kept my overall energy bill down by about 3/4 (on Octopus Agile import, fixed 15p kWh export) of what the electricity bill would have been ...

Re: Force discharge to grid
Presumably the main concern over force discharge is not exceeding the total output power approved by your DNO under your G98/99, but since the H1 inverters can control total export anyway when solar producing, they presumably can enforce this cap even when battery force discharging. Otherwise the ...

Re: API update
Like to echo the comments by 'Dad' above: - Many thanks to Dave, Al, Tony for all their speedy work to catch up with the changes from Foxess. Incidentally, I just tried downloading the latest Energy Stats from Apple, but it still wanted my password rather than my API key, so presumably the App Store ...

Re: API update
TonyM1958 on github has 'published' a python library to access the new openAPI. Have used a previous version of his library, before openAPI, with great success. HOWEVER - I cannot get the Foxess Cloud site to issue me with an API key - it just throws an API Error 500 and you have to log back in. Is ...

Re: System Design and Saving Money (Return on Investment)
Step 1 has to be estimating about how much power you consume at what time of year. A Secure SMETS1 meter conveniently gathers and displays on screen your kWh consumption per month - other meters may also do this and it is worth checking, but I don't believe our current SMETS2 meter makes this ...

System Design and Saving Money (Return on Investment)
A major driver for installing a solar system is to reduce energy bills, whilst also reducing carbon footprint. However, whilst odd snippets exist on the form relevant to optimising system design for saving money, I think it would be useful to put in one place how to estimate the optimum system size ...

Re: Sizing a Hybrid Installation
I suspect the issue with fitting further batteries later will be the impact on return on investment. The whole battery system will likely get scrapped at the same time, so if some batteries are fitted later they get less use, and thus negatively impact ROI compared to fitting them at the start. In ...
