Re: Battery charging and accounting for increasing solar
I might be wrong but I can’t currently see a way to do this without checking and altering daily to suit, maybe in a future update fox will introduce weather monitoring into the app but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Re: CT clamps - how many do I need?
CT clamp at incoming supply to house and at existing solar inverter. It shows how to position them in the fox installation manual, make sure they are the weight way round with the arrow pointing in the weight direction or thing will get weird

Re: confirmation about battery charging
Try a force charge from the grid for an hour to see if the battery will take a full load charge then, depending on whic inverter you have this will be limited to either 3.68kw or 5.0kw. The only other thing is what kind of ambient temps you had at the times when it was limiting charge rate and ...

Any ideas when they will be producing V1 batteries again?

Re: Battery not charging or discharging.
Personally I don’t believe the temps displayed on the fox cloud, the other day mine was saying the ambient air temp was 17c when outside it was 0c to me that’s impossible in an in insulated loft. Mine has done the same today, been sat on 54% with all solar generation going to the grid all day.

Re: Batteries charging outside force charging period.
Yes the charge rate will be controlled via the BMS which will throttle it in cold conditions, I will have to check but think it needs to be up around 8-10c for full charge capacity, obviously not ideal when installers place them in lofts and cold garages, bad practice in my option.

Re: Battery will not charge - is it too cold ?
When I say warm the battery up I mean it needs to be in a warmer environment to get the most out of it, these limitations are definitely a pain for a UK winter and I wasn’t told about them either. My solution will be to make an insulated cover to go over them in the cold months, hopefully I’ll have t ...

Re: Battery will not charge - is it too cold ?
Yep, too cold at the min, the BMS will throttle the charge rate but it won’t charge at all at 0deg or lower. You need to warm the battery up

Re: Batteries charging outside force charging period.
It will be to do with the temperature where the battery is installed, the BMS will be putting charge into the battery to protect it from the cold.

Re: Battery Insulation
I’m going to be building a small cover from insulation boards to go over mine, although they are in my loft so not open to the elements as such, you could do the same but cover with a tarp or similar to weather proof the insulation, won’t look the best but I’m guessing your not out in the garden much ...

Re: power going to grid and battery at the same time
not had any overheating issues so far and we went through some pretty hot weather which had me worried, also didn't notice any drop in performance either due to heat, I'm sure the BMS will look after them in extreme conditions anyway, it is a bit annoying when I asked the installers before install ...

Re: Inverter cable / circuit breaker
personally I like to see an external isolator, from a safety perspective if someone needs to work on the AIO itself then it can be isolated at the external local isolator, but for asthetics then if it has a built in isolator you may prefer that, both ways are fine.

Re: Inverter cable / circuit breaker
It's great to be a member of the forum, and I also have a question on cable sizing that links into this topic. I have just bought an all in one 3.7kw system with 10kW of batteries. Looking at the manual, it seems to recommend 10mm cable between the system and the consumer unit and 50amp circuit ...

Re: Inverter cable / circuit breaker
Technically your right, if your putting 5KW t the grid you’d be pushing near 21A through the MCB so technically they should have installed a 25A or 32A, 4mm is fine at those ratings however I would prefer to see a 6mm installed, I suppose practically though it all depends on how often you will be p ...

Re: power going to grid and battery at the same time
Think I’ve got to the bottom of it, seems it linked to the siting of the batteries in my loft and the cold weather we’re getting at the minute, the BMS throttles the charging current to protect the batteries, obviously not ideal as we want all the solar to go into the batteries before It goest to the ...

power going to grid and battery at the same time
i have noticed the last couple of day when the sun has finally decided to show itself that as an example i could be producing 2KW from my array, the house is drawing 300w, and at the same time the battery will be charging at 650W with the remaining 1KW give or take being taken by the grid, this has ...
