Re: Inverter data 'unavailable' in HA
As Fred Flintstone would often say - "Yabba, Dabba, Doo!"
I've now got more stats than I can handle. I'll try the modpoll suggestion tomorrow but it is now somewhat secondary.
Sweet piece of work thank you.

Inverter data 'unavailable' in HA
So after many hours of wrestling with the first adapter I finally managed to prove that it was indeed faulty. Bought another (Waveshare) and hey presto I'm linked to the inverter. Sadly the joy didn't last very long. The sensors were showing up but the stats were 'unavailable'. The following message ...

Error 404 problem with Modbus switch USR TCP 232
I am trying to get ahead of the PV installation due on 4th Feb, by getting as much done as I can with HA and connecting the Modbus link. The latter is being done following the instructions by Nathan Marlor on GitHub. My problem is that the Modbus keeps falling over when I try to save the IP ...

Re: KH inverter USB to Modbus connection query
Thanks for that info Dave. So if I have got it right only connect to the Meter/CT/RS485 port on the inverter for HA access.

KH inverter USB to Modbus connection query
I have seen on the forum the strong advice that when using the H1 inverter one should avoid the USB port connection for attaching the Modbus. My install will have the KH 8kwh inverter which also has a USB connection. Does the same advice apply to this model regarding the limitations the USB ...

Re: Like jumping into a raging river
Thanks WyndStryke, the batteries will be in a garage which is not heated but remains tolerable during the winter. I'm going to get the company to quote for the additional panels, the extra cost on top will be the wiring from the roof to the inverter etc., not impossible but a bit of a challenge ...

Re: Like jumping into a raging river
Hello again. I've now had my 'final' quotation and interestingly enough they have moved towards much of what you have suggested. They have replaced the two EP5 with one EP11 (10.36 kWh) and upped the inverter to the 5.0 kWh model.
So I asked what the extra cost would be for the 6.0 kWh version and ...

Re: Like jumping into a raging river
Thank you Dave for such a comprehensive answer. Being rather old I am going to need a little while to digest it all and then I suspect there may be some additional clarification so again thanks for the offer of further support.

Like jumping into a raging river
We seem to use a lot of electricity, about 5200 kWh per annum, compared to the national average. An EV charger accounts for a fair bit I suspect.
