Hi Wyndstryke,
Can I ask you how long it took Fox to set your Meter Compensation after you made your request? I have been waiting 7 days (5 working days) whereas my previous contacts with them have been much quicker.
I am using the Octopus Energy app to see what my grid import is. If I get the ...

Modbus Address for Meter Compensation
Hi,
I requested Fox ESS to set my Meter Compensation to -50 last Monday and have received a ticket number but so far no other action as far as I can tell. It occurs to me that I can check this via Home Assistant, Developer Tools, Actions, FoxESS - Modbus: Read Registers. In fact I can theoretically ...

Re: Cell Balancing
I have been dithering about this for ages, being guilty of 'best' being the enemy of 'better'. So, in the end I have gone for a quick (and fairly dirty) top balance only routine. This is the code:

Re: Forecasting Solar Production
Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I will look at SolCast and see if I can make use of it. My basic problem with all these updating predictions is that I need to act no later than say 02:00 on the day of the prediction. This is the time when I will need to decide to what level the battery is charged. If a ...

Fascinating stuff!
This is my EQ4800 battery stack charging to 100% SoC.

It shows the 15 minutes hold at 96% charge. The voltage curve is unexpected but clearly is being managed.

Hi Dave,
That's excellent information, many thanks. I will definitely make sure that my battery is charged to 100% at least once per week and I will also use a reduced charge current to slow the charging when over 90%. I like your 'active' approach using the jinja template but it is probably a ...

Hi,
I’m trying to learn a bit more about cell balancing. I gather that the Fox ESS BMS uses top balancing and I assume that it will be active power balancing. From my reading so far it seems as if the balancing kicks in when the battery SoC is about 95%.

Re: Passing a UI value to an automation trigger
Brilliant! I had no idea it was that simple. I have spent hours trying to wrap everything in {{}} or {%%} and all it needs is the entity id. I had already created my input_number helper, it was just that I didn't know how to reference it in the automation. Anyway, it all seems to work now as I want ...

Setting Meter Compensation
Hi,
After watching Will's YouTube video on setting the meter compensation to a negative number and getting the inverter firmware updated to 1.37 I thought I would do this on my KH10. But for the life of me, I can't find the setting. The path I followed was:

Passing a UI value to an automation trigger
This is - possibly - the last piece of the jigsaw that will complete my Force Discharge automation. With loads of help from this forum - take a bow, Dave, I now have a series of three automations that are designed to export surplus energy from battery to grid as late as possible before the IOG low ...

OK, Mr. Fox finally sorted out my inverter firmware update yesterday evening and I am a happy bunny with my KH10 all singing and dancing. But, and there always is a but, in my flailing around when the first update attempt hadn't worked I reinstalled my Fox ESS - Modbus integration. Reinstalled it a ...

Hi Dave,
The previous settings were:
Manager 1.22
Master 1.39
Slave 1.01
Now, post 'update'
Manager 1.37
Master 0.00
Slave 0.00
Not sure you can glean any useful information from that! Well, apart from the fact that the update hasn't worked. I will send these to Fox and see if they can sort it ...

KH10 Firmware Upgrade: SCI Fault
Hi, Following my request last week I received an email from Fox at about 10:00 this morning confirming they were going to update my KH10 inverter firmware. They said it would take 'upwards of 1 hour'. I waited until 13:00 but when I tried to check in Home Assistant via my Waveshare adaptor I couldn ...

Re: Missing Sensor
Thanks for the clarification. I have also devised my own, very crude, automation to use the normal battery soc to switch work modes. A shame that FDSoc isn’t exposed as it would be an elegant way to do it. Meanwhile I need to find out why my work mode switching away from Force Discharge failed and ...

Re: Myenergi Zappi automation to protect hybrid battery during Eco Tariff
Your OCD may be trembling but mine is in full melt down. I was so pleased with myself for managing to get my automation to change the work state to force discharge that I forgot to kill it. So, it triggered, it worked, it emptied my battery as soon as the force charging schedule ended!

Re: Myenergi Zappi automation to protect hybrid battery during Eco Tariff
Hi Dave,
I think I have cracked how to start forced discharging. I managed to do it via the UI after a bit of trial and error. So, my last remaining problem is how to stop the fd before the soc falls to 10%. Ideally I would like to stop it in the same automation when the Soc drops to say 15% but ...

Re: Myenergi Zappi automation to protect hybrid battery during Eco Tariff
Hi Dave,
I am getting closer - but.......
This is the code that isn't working. My problem is that I can't find a way to specify the work mode I want, force discharge, in the UI and when I try it directly in yaml it doesn't like it. Here is my non-working code.

Hi Dave,
Sorry to be a nuisance but could you clarify about using triggers. If my Start Force Discharge automation triggers on my “is it time” AND “Is SOC over 14%” then I am sure the automation will start but will it stop discharging when the soc falls to less than 14%, that is the behaviour I want ...

Re: Missing Sensor - Again
Damn - just when I thought it was going to be straightforward to use Force Discharge. Set FDSoc to say 14%, start the FD and not have to worry about stopping it. Oh well, more “learning opportunity” I suppose.
Thanks anyway for setting me straight.
Hugh
