Re: What should the PV produce on a cloudy day?

I am in the South East where it has been overcast for several days. I really don't know what to expect from a potential 5kW array on a dull day this time of year. I am on an Economy 7 tariff and so far, since the installation in May this year, I have only used the grid on the cheaper rate, using the...

Re: What should the PV produce on a cloudy day?

Silly question.....but how do you get that graph? Is it through the Fox ESS Cloud app? My app only seems to show a different graph.

What should the PV produce on a cloudy day?

I have only had the system a few months but I am disappointed with the PV output on a cloudy day. Should I expect it to be better? I have 12 Aiko panels (445 W each) with Tigo optimisers on two strings going to a Foxess Hi-5.0-E.G2 inverter and batteries. These PV panels are on a south facing garage...

Re: Foxess EQS4800

Thank you very much for your help. BTW, you have quite a battery capacity there. I might need more, but see how it goes with my first winter with PV.

Re: Foxess EQS4800

Thank you Dave My installer fitted the extra slave battery today, it was the new EQS4800 and was fitted very quickly. No problems with the connections that I had concerns about. So I now have the EC4800 master, a EC4800 slave and a EQS4800 slave. The Fox phone app shows the total to be 13980wh, is t...

Re: Foxess EQS4800

Thank you Dave. I have contacted Fox Customer Care and the response was that it was a marketing change (?) and the battery is compatible. There is a firmware change I am told. My installer, however, says that there is a change to the connectors. I will have to wait to see what my installer does and ...

Foxess EQS4800

I want another slave battery to add to the EC4800 Master and slave that I have.

I have been told that the ECS4800 slave has been replaced with the EQS4800, is that correct and what is different? Can the EQS4800 slave be added to my system?

Re: Can I set the time that the battery is not used?

I might have misunderstood what you have said, but I want the batteries to charge during the Economy 7 night period, but want other demand (like the washing machine) to only use the grid during the night, so I have a full battery in the morning.

Can I set the time that the battery is not used?

I have Economy 7 with a cheaper rate at night. I have set the battery to charge during that period, but can I also set the battery not to be used during those hours? For example if I set the washing machine to be used overnight, I want that to be taken from the grid, not the battery, so I have a ful...

Re: Storage battery question

Well at the moment, at the end of the day, the batttery (9kW) is usually down to about 30%. Although we have 12 panels on a south facing roof, the weather has not been that sunny for a week or so. The battery is at 100% by the afternoon though. For example now at around 6.30 pm, the battery is at 76...

Hi Dave,

Thank you very much for the reply. I am not very technical, so rely on advice of others.....like you and my installer.

Re: Storage battery question

It's not the inverter, it's the battery pack size. The inverter has a maximum charge/discharge current of 40A, the 2 batteries you have ECS4800-H2 has a nominal voltage of 89.6V and so the max power it can charge / discharge at is 40 * 89.6 = 3,584W If you add another battery to take it to an ECS48...

Re: Storage battery question

Thank you for the help.

My installer has previously said that if I wanted another battery it would cost about £1800 including installation. Does that sound about right?

Re: Storage battery question

Thank you for explaining it so well. My installer never mentioned that limitation.

I have the space for two more batteries. Would adding two make the system more efficient, or just add the one to get a higher output when the load is high?

Storage battery question

I have recently had 12 PV panels installed (Aiko 445W), a Fox Hi-5-E G2 inverter and two Fox 4800 batteries (nominally 9.32kW). The other evening I noticed that the load was around 6kW, the battery was only giving 3.5kW and the rest taken from the grid. With the inverter of that size, I expected mor...

Re: Error code 240 "Manger fail to detect CT"

Thanks Dave,

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but are you saying that what the installer has fitted is wrong and that is why I get that error code?

Stll hoping that the installer can get the system working using a LoRA link.

Re: Error code 240 "Manger fail to detect CT"

Thank you very much for the help. The reason for LoRA is because the Solar array is on a detached garage, and we didn't want to dig up the driveway. I afraid I am a bit lost with the technical stuff. I will ask the installer for more info. I was assured the installation would work without a hard wir...

Re: Error code 240 "Manger fail to detect CT"

The solar installation is new and my knowledge is limited, but the CT clamp is on the live in my meter box. The link from the inverter is wireless via LoRA. The installer came on Monday, and tried a hard wire connection, but that failed as well, so the LoRa seems it is not the reason. My installer i...

Error code 240 "Manger fail to detect CT"

I recently had a Fox Hi.5.0-EG2 inverter and battery fitted. My phone app shows the error message Code 240 "fail to detect CT".

My installer thinks the setup needs a new module to connect to the CT. Any thoughts on what might give this error?
