Thanks for the help, but in my Android phone all permissions are set to off and I still get this message on the opening screen for the Fox Ess app. I suppose I just have to ignore it.

Thank you Dave, I guess I will just put up with the app asking me to turn on these services. I don't want those on just to see what the state of charge is. That is all I use the app for.

I am disappointed that there have not been any replies, am I the only one to have this happen on the opening screen of the app?

I have had the Fox ESS app on my Android phone for a long time. A recent update now has an opening screen asking me to turn on Location and Bluetooth. Is there any advantage to doing that ( I would rather not have those on) and is it possible to get rid of the reminders every time I access the app?

Aah....thank you, I didn't know I had to input that. That looks better now, the battery says 62 % in Fox, with the Energy Stats showing 8.67kWh left (the battery is 13,980 Wh).

Update: I have downloaded the app from the Google Play Store to my Android phone. The instructions in the app to "join" by getting the API doesn't seem to work for me. To get the API I had to do that on the PC and transfer the API manually to the phone.

Not a big deal, but why does the app show the battery reserve in percentage? I would have thought it might be better to show that in kWh. Is that an option?

Perhaps there is a good reason it is shown that way?

I just wondered if I could do it in the future, but if you say it comes with risks, then "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It would be good to have some heads up ...

Is it possible for me, as an end user, to get firmware updates for the Foxess inverter and batteries, or does the installer need to do this?

My installer has done this for me, but I don't get to know what these updates give me.

My installer fitted the extra slave battery today, it was the new EQS4800 and was fitted very quickly. No problems with the connections that I had concerns about. So I now have the EC4800 master, a EC4800 slave and a EQS4800 slave.

I have contacted Fox Customer Care and the response was that it was a marketing change (?) and the battery is compatible. There is a firmware change I am told. My installer, however, says that there is a change to the connectors. I will have to wait to see what my installer does and ...

I want another slave battery to add to the EC4800 Master and slave that I have.

I have been told that the ECS4800 slave has been replaced with the EQS4800, is that correct and what is different? Can the EQS4800 slave be added to my system?

I might have misunderstood what you have said, but I want the batteries to charge during the Economy 7 night period, but want other demand (like the washing machine) to only use the grid during the night, so I have a full battery in the morning.

I have Economy 7 with a cheaper rate at night. I have set the battery to charge during that period, but can I also set the battery not to be used during those hours?

It's not the inverter, it's the battery pack size.

The inverter has a maximum charge/discharge current of 40A, the 2 batteries you have ECS4800-H2 has a nominal voltage of 89.6V and so the max power it can charge / discharge at is 40 * 89.6 = 3,584W
