Re: Firmware updates

The LV5200 can only have their firmware upgraded by a Fox engineer on-site, but as I understand it as long as you set the Master with the newer firmware version the slave can be on an older version (it won’t work the other way round).

Re: What's with the spikes??

Thanks for that. Could that be fixed in any way or is it something I have to leave with for now?? I think it's possible to work round it, but you'll have to do the calculations rather than rely on the solar generation register that comes directly from the inverter. If you add this to your configura...

Re: What's with the spikes??

Looking at the trace, I think that would cause trouble when the inverter is shutting down once there isn't enough solar left to keep the MPPT up. It looks like the trace is going up and down several times, I assume as the inverter is detecting enough voltage threshold to start up, before it then shu...

You can see all of the sensors that the integration is providing by clicking on Settings, Devices & Services, find the Foxess-Modbus integration and click on '1 Device' That will list all available sensors, if you then click on the one that says 'Solar Generation Today' it should open a history ...

Re: Storage battery sizing...

Yes there are a lot of variables, one of the key variables is whether you have an EV (or if not a low overnight tariff like Eco 7) as that will drive the commercial thinking - in fact I just read that Eon Next no longer require an EV to be mandated (like the original Octopus Go) and so this low over...

Re: What's with the spikes??

I've just noticed you have posted on another thread that you are looking for batteries, do you currently have any batteries on this system ? The timing looks spookily about the time that there is not enough voltage on your PV and without batteries the H1 would normally go into standby ('waiting') - ...

Re: Module Addressing Failed error after adding new batteries.

It's very strange (and I imagine equally frustrating), the slow flashing green 'run' light tells you that the BMS is in boot mode and so is effectively going through it's re-addressing - it looks ok to start but then it starts to error - i'm starting to wonder if Fox have made a recent change in the...

Re: Module Addressing Failed error after adding new batteries.

For RS485 alone it would be a single pair, but there are other signals in there (Canbus, Power, Gnd and an Inverter connected). This cable is a through cat5/6 cable with all 8 cores passed straight through pin for pin - so if you have a couple of cat5/6 cables around you could eliminate the inter-co...

Re: Module Addressing Failed error after adding new batteries.

Yes that’s the switch I meant. It shouldn’t matter that the batteries are in a different order as long as it initiates the re-addressing at startup, that’s usually the rapid flashing you see when you press the BMS power button. To keep it simple unplug the CAN-2 comms lead from battery 2 (so every b...

Re: Module Addressing Failed error after adding new batteries.

Minimum is 1 bms and 2 batteries, rotary dip switch set to 0 Just to confirm you are powering off and opening the isolater switch on the BMS before restarting it (it only does auto addressing at initial startup). All the individual battery dip switches are set ‘off’ (note I have seen a battery dip s...

Re: Module Addressing Failed error after adding new batteries.

I’m hoping if you’ve been through checklists that you have checked the battery voltage and it’s now showing around 350V plus or minus a bit depending on state of charge. But that is a comms problem - most likely one of the inter-connect cables between batteries is faulty, but also make sure that the...

The latest version fixes this issue it seems. Unfortunately the ability to download data from the cloud now seems to be not working. The Gen 2 registers are often different to the H1, for the total yield today register you have to access it via it's holding register on 32017

Re: Hi from 'Up North'.

The Fox kit has gone though several iterations since you had yours installed, you will likely have an H1 (Gen1) whereas he will be most likely to have a Gen 2 - they are principally the same, where the big differences will come is if you haven’t had your firmware updated as the Gen1 can do esxsentia...

Green flashing is perfectly normal - the master (BMS) polls all the batteries every few seconds and the green light flashes like a heart beat when it does. If it’s a red light flashing it’s a problem !

Re: Switching from Wifi to LAN

If you have individual panel monitoring that comes from the Tigo’s, they communicate wirelessly between themselves and back to a TAP (tigo access point), that then has an RS485 cable running in unscreened cable and connected to a CCA which is basically a Tigo cloud access point — you have to pay for...

Re: Switching from Wifi to LAN

Yes you can just unplug the datalogger and replace with a new one with power on. Your user account is tied to it’s datalogger serial number and any inverters on that datalogger show - so your user account will ‘lose’ the inverter when you change datalogger and you will either have to add the new dat...

It’s possibly a firmware mismatch that is causing the problem - but either way I would recommend that if your installer is not able to correct it, that you contact FoxESS service and ask them for their advice.

Re: Switching from Wifi to LAN

If you replace the dongle with the LAN version that will work fine, a lot of people use that where signal is weak - another option is to install a wifi extender at the nearest point in your house and only used for the inverter (set to 2.4Ghz). The cable should be fine with 2 pair, there are only 4 a...

You can’t connect just a CM4800 to a system, it has to be wired in with at least 1 slave attached - it needs the master/slave combo to get past the minimum voltage.

Spec sheet attached.

Re: KH10.5 grid charge limitation issue

Are you charging the EV off the Inverter (solar/battery) itself ?, if not it’s better to keep the EV charger in front of the inverters CT so that it doesn’t see the load. I’m not sure on the gridchargelimit - I can see why it’s a good idea for the European markets with PeakShaving etc.. (i’ll give W...
