Re: API update

As always thanks for the updates Dave. Slightly off topic (or is it?), do you know why the Fox app doesn’t have an accurate daily PV generation value on the Home Screen (like Energy Stats) as it’s probably the single most basic value a user looks for. It seems such an obvious gap in functionality. ...

Just a quick note to say we’re all working on it. FoxESS cloud status Energy Stats, Home Assistant Cloud

The FoxESS cloud access for the Energy Stats app and Home Assistant Cloud version is currently off-line due to a change in the FoxESS server overnight. The background to this is that the old FoxESS cloud access is to be made private, they have however written an OpenAPI the developers of 3rd party a...

Re: Meaning of abbreviations

You've clearly got a 3 phase supply as you have R, S & T meters showing, If you had a single phase you would only have R (Reference), with 3 phase you also have S (Secondary) and T (Tertiary) feeds to make up the 3 phase. So you will see a repeat of the sensors for voltage, current, frequency an...

Re: Bizarre behaviour from the battery (discharging... but charge percentage going up?)

The inverter battery current is the most reliable and a true indication of what is happening, but it sounds like your BMS has lost the plot following the alarm it raised -that usually causes it to open it’s contactor and stop feeding the inverter but in this case it sounds like that hasn’t happened....

Re: FOXEss T5 G3 - external meter and wifi connectivity during night

I didn't think you could with the T series inverters, they normally go into standby once the startup voltage drops below 140V, and wait in a low power mode until the solar returns. But you could try Night Mode 'Enable', if it does keep it on at night I would expect the option to be 'enabled to do it...

Re: Can I leave the battery disconnected for few months?

Yes that is possible and it will work fine - without battery when the solar falls below the startup voltage level the inverter will go into standby and simply wait for the next dawn when it has enough power to startup again. The battery will lose around 3% soc each month because of internal resistan...

Re: Not drawing from battery

Yes self use is the normal mode of operation and the battery should be feeding the house like that. Here’s a few of the more common things that can cause this - A charge period has been left in use, when not being used the charge periods must be set to 00:00-00:00 and charge from grid switch off Min...

Re: HYBRID 5.0WKH - NO SOLAR SETUP

First question is do you have a CT clamp fitted to the live tail of your meter ?, if there is no CT clamp fitted the inverter is unable to work out the house load and won't be able to do anything.

The Hybrid inverter doesn't need solar to run as a battery system, but it must have a CT clamp fitted.

If you have recently registered for the FoxESS system you will only be able to use the v1 app, the v2 app was only in beta for previously registered users. Since it was released the V2 app has come on massively and will be a really big improvement over the original app - the current proposed timesca...

When you are running on EPS, have you got a Neutral to Earth bond being made and is your Earth on a local rod ? - if not you will have floating Neutral and/or possibly floating Earth. Re: BMS/Inverter battery cable connection parts

Sadly these connectors are not standard MC4 as they have a groove in them, but the good news is FoxESS supply a spare set with each inverter - double check the bag that came with the inverter. I've never been able to source them myself but if you don't have the spare set contact you're original inst...

If you go back into HACS in home assistant and search for the frontend foxess modbus charge card - download that and add it to one of your dashboards and you’ll get an easy to use charge period settings card 👍

Re: Maximum password length for wireless stick?

i'm not sure I would categorise it as a bug, from what I can see in their documents they have never specified it's length - my password is 20 characters which I thought was reasonably long but above that you'll have to test the limits.

Re: LV5200 - Optimal Settings Question

The battery is good for a 100A charge/discharge (assuming temp is ~ 20C), the limiting factor will be your Solis inverter which I think only has a 50A maximum - so you should set all charge/discharge values to 50A. I'm not very familiar with Solis inverter timed charge settings but it looks straight...

Re: RS485 communication interface

Ok, that is the best integration to use. Your inverter firmware shouldn't affect it on RS485. If you had ever used a LAN connection on the inverter it is best to make sure that is disabled Settings, (enter password), Communication, Ethernet, DHCP = Disabled *ignore this if you haven't ever used it.*...

Are you using this integration on HA to connect to it? https://github.com/nathanmarlor/foxess_modbus If you click on the wiki there is a wiring guide which confirms the pins on the inverter, a common mistake is connecting them to the meter RS485A/B when it should be the RS485A/B pin There is the con...

That sounds a pretty good result, and what they are saying is not entirely wrong, the packs have to balance before you will get near their full capacity and it is critical the firmware be updated to latest on all the packs. Until the packs are in balance the battery management system will cut discha...

The Foxcloud monitoring system needs a Foxess inverter and datalogger to register, if you have a Solax inverter that uses FoxESS batteries you will have access to the batteries statistics through the Solax app (but wouldn't be able to create a Foxcloud account)
